The trip from/to San Pedro de Atacama in Chile is a truly magical experience- the exploration of the unique and secluded landscapes of southern Bolivia. Sense the endless expanse of the Salar de Uyuni (3.653 m / 12.000 ft.) and enjoy the surreal landscapes and the wide range of wildlife you will come across on this trip.

Day 1 San Pedro de Atacama – Laguna Colorada (Bolivia) – Villamar
In the morning we depart from San Pedro to drive towards the Bolivian border located at 60 km from San Pedro. Entering the Eduardo Abaroa National Reserve we will visit the Laguna Verde, a green lagoon displaying wonderful emerald colours. On the route to the Laguna Colorada, we come across the Laguna Blanca, Polques hot springs and the geyser Sol de Mañana. The Laguna Colorada is situated in the Occidental Mountain Range of the Andes with an average altitude of (4600 m. / 15.000 ft.), where one can also observe a series of other lagoons with hundreds of flamingos. Then we continue to the village of Villamar. Overnight (Lunch/Dinner)
Day 2 Uyuni Salt Flats
Today you will start your trip to the amazing Uyuni Salt Lake, passing mountain areas with high erosion and further to the north San Augustín. The Salar de Uyuni is with its 10,582 square km (4,085 square miles) the world’s largest salt flat. The major minerals found in the salar are halite and gypsum. Overnight stay will be in Tahua, a village in the foothills of the Tunupa Volcano. Enjoy the sunset! (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Day 3 Chilguilla - Ojo de Perdiz
Today we will travel south through the Uyuni saltflats visiting the Incahuasi Island, a special habitat of giant cactuses and volcanic rock, continue through the highlands and branches of the Andes Range. Once we pass the villages of San Juan, San Agustin, and Alota we will cross the Valle de los Sapos , and the lagoons of Pastos Grandes, Cache, Hedionda, Chiarkhota, Honda and Cachi to finally descend to the desert of Siloli. Overnight in Ojo de Perdiz. (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Day 4 National Reserve – San Pedro de Atacama
This morning we will get up early to take advantage of the "Eduardo Abaroa Nacional Reserve". We will be visiting the Árbol de Piedra (Rock Tree) then we will continue to the Laguna Colorada situated at 4,278 m / 14.032 ft of altitude. We will not miss the "Sol de Mañana" geysers, the Laguna Chalviri and its natural hot springs of Polques. Later we will continue through the beautiful Pampas de Dalí until reaching Laguna Verde, a stunning lagoon located at the base of the Licancabur Volcano. Crossing the border with Chile at Hito Cajón we will start our final descent to San Pedro de Atacama. (Breakfast/Lunch)
Please, note:
Due to weather conditions (especially during January and February – the "Bolivian Winter") the itinerary might be modified while traveling. Vehicles used for this trip are basic & robust 4 WD jeeps or pick-up trucks. No radio communication from/to vehicles! Please, prepare for high altitude between 2.000 m / 8.000 ft. – 5.000 m /16.000 ft. and the individual effects on your physical condition!
